001 - Californian Palms

In this series, we will begin to uncover the many elements of Los Angeles that help us feel more than enough - starting with Californian Palms.

There’s nothing that defines Los Angeles experience and landscape like the iconic presence of palm trees found along our boulevards.

The Washington Filfera, famously known as the ‘Californian Palm’ were originally imported to the Southern Californian region by Franciscan monks, the first settlers, in the early 18th century as ornamental purposes. Since then, the tropical trees have grown to become more than just an exotic symbol of the medditarean LA climate & lifestyle, but also livelihood essentials for the wild animals and native american tribes as providers of food and materials. In today’s culture, the palm trees are the key elements that help bring joy and a sense of feeling “more than enough” while living in Los Angeles.
