003 - HOLLYWOOD
Established in 1853, Hollywood, without a doubt, is the mecca of filmmaking, entertainment and celebrities.
Attracting visitors from all around the world, Hollywood puts Los Angeles on the map as the most exciting and extravagant city - gaining the name as “city of stars”. Originally founded by a real estate developer and politician Harvey Henry Wilcox with the intent for harvesting and agriculture, it wasn’t until a banker named H. J. Whitely took over to develop the land in 1902 into the glamorous and iconic city it is today.
The city found it’s significance through the development of the Dolby Theater, which held the anual Oscars ceremony, and rise of the iconic “HOLLYWOODLAND” sign back in 1923.
(The sign later altered to “HOLLYWOOD” in the 1950’s.)
Over the decades, Hollywood has become home to more than 60,000 residents and an astonishing 10 million visitors per year. The Hollywood boulevard has also gained recognition for it’s “Walk of Fame”, where gold star plaques are embeded into the ground as an homage to all the most-recognized celebrities in Hollywood.
Today, the Hollywood experience is definitely “more than enough” to both visitors and people in the industry as it continues to provide an unlimited amount of opportunities and excitement.
